I accidentally found this morning a very simple way to have both connection simultaneously active. I also wrote a short script in bash to set the routing table according to my needs (I have a Motorola Atrix that necessarily uses 3G for connecting to my company INTRANET but when I am home I need also Internet, not accessible via INTRANET)

I’ve accidentally found an easy way to keep both connection active and perfectly working simultaneously. The trick is to force an application on the phone (or maybe it is a service, called com.android.phone) probably related to 3G radio interface to crash while you are connected to wifi. The 3G signal indicator will go down for a few seconds and soon after it will return to normal but this time with both H(SDPA) and Wifi icons showing on the notification area on the upper right of the screen. I quickly added a few lines to the routing table via linux shell for using my company INTRANET via ppp0 for a few address ranges, while all the other destination addresses normally go via wifi.
To force the application you can simply go to the hidden menu and select a radio band incompatible with your phone regional settings.

All the process can be condensed in a simple bash script to be launched as superuser (root privileges) here an example for a couple of address ranges to redirect to 3G connection:
pkill com.android.phone
sleep 30
route add -net 10.0.0.0 netmask 255.0.0.0 dev ppp0
route add -net 15.0.0.0 netmask 255.0.0.0 dev ppp0

Hi,
I am trying to patch ethernet connectivity in Abdroid Jellybean 4.2.2v. I can browse the internet but the problem I am facing is dat download manager is nit working properly for which I am unable to download. I think dat ConnectivityService is not aware of ethernet connection which must be due to failure in handleMessage() to inform the same. Please reply if u hv any suggestion inthe regard.
